Student Pitch - Your mental wellness journey

Have you ever felt stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed but didn't know where to turn for help? Or wished you had a safe, judgment-free space to reflect on your thoughts and emotions?

Meet a 7th grader from Seattle, Washington who's bringing mental health support directly to her peers!

During mental health awareness lessons at school, this student realized something important: while schools are starting to teach about mental health, students often need ongoing support between those lessons. They need tools they can access anytime, anywhere - especially during moments when they're struggling but might not be ready to talk to someone.

So she built an app to bridge that gap!

Introducing "Your Mental Wellness Journey" - a safe space for reflection, growth, and healing designed by a student, for students! This thoughtfully designed app offers two powerful tools: daily mindfulness exercises and checklists to help you stay grounded and present, plus a personal journal where you can express your thoughts and track your emotional journey over time. It's like having a private sanctuary available 24/7 where you can process your feelings at your own pace.

What makes this story even more powerful? This Seattle 7th grader built this app after just 3 sessions in the October Foundations cohort at Flintolabs. Inspired by her school's mental health curriculum, she went from learning AI basics to creating a functional app that could genuinely help her classmates - all in less than a month.

This is what happens when students don't just learn about important issues - they build solutions for them.

This app shows how young innovators can use technology to make a real difference in their communities.

Check out the app and give this student a like if you believe mental health matters! Add a comment to let her know how apps like this could help you or your friends.

Important Note: "Your Mental Wellness Journey" is a supportive tool created by a student to help with reflection and mindfulness. The app itself reminds users: "If you're in crisis or need professional support, please contact a mental health professional or emergency services." Mental health is a journey, not a destination, and this app provides tools to support your wellbeing through mindfulness exercises and personal journaling.
