Designing a game about social media misinformation

My Internship at Flintolabs
During my internship at Flintolabs, I mainly worked on one big project - creating a mystery game that teaches students the perils of social media. I also got the chance to teach another intern a quick Unity lesson and take part in a one-week session on how AI can be used in different ways. Overall, it was a really fun and eye-opening experience.
Building the Game
The main thing I worked on was a game with a message behind it. The idea was to show that not everything you see on social media is true. In the game, the player is chased by a monster and gets notifications about where it might be. The catch is that some of those notifications are fake, just like the kind of misinformation people run into online.
I liked working on this because it wasn’t just a game — it was also about making people think. It showed me how games can actually teach important lessons while still being scary and fun to play.
Teaching Unity
At one point, I had the chance to teach another intern the basics of Unity. It was just a single lesson, but it felt good to share what I knew. Teaching also helped me understand Unity better myself since explaining something makes you think about it differently.
Learning About AI
Another cool part of the internship was the learning sessions on AI. We went over how AI can be used in creative projects, problem-solving, and even game development. It gave me a better idea of how powerful AI is and how it could be useful in future projects I might work on.
What I Took Away
Overall, my internship at Flintolabs was a great learning experience. I got to make a game with a deeper meaning, share what I knew with others, and learn new things about AI. It showed me that internships aren’t just about learning from others - they’re also about contributing and trying out your own ideas.
I’m really glad I had this opportunity, and I’m excited to use what I learned in whatever I build next.
And look out for the game coming soon!
